Maggie thought she understood the paths time could take.
She was wrong.
Drawn once more into 8th-century Scotland, Maggie finds herself in the midst of a bitter struggle between the rising Christian Church and the ancient pagan traditions of the Picts. The conflict centers on Iona, the sacred Isle of the Druids, where monks seek to establish a monastery atop land hallowed by generations of Fergus's ancestors.
As tensions escalate toward a battle that could reshape a nation, Maggie is reunited with Fergus and his now-grown daughter. But this journey through time holds an even greater surprise.
For the first time, Maggie is pulled not only into the past, but into an alternate future—one where the Christians never succeeded in erasing Scotland's old beliefs. In this remarkable world, women lead a thriving technological society built beneath the shadow of Dunadd, among the descendants of the man she loves.
Caught between a war that will determine the fate of a kingdom and a future that should not exist, Maggie must confront a question that could change everything:
What if history itself can be rewritten?
A sweeping blend of time travel, romance, Celtic mythology, and alternate history, Iona is the most ambitious and captivating installment yet in the Veil of Time series.
