This first in this new paranormal mystery series is set in 1980s New York City on Wall Street. In 1987, Clive January, a driven, self-made Black man, a ruthless, wildly successful investment banker had it all—until he is shot and killed from behind by an unknown assailant.

As Clive lies in a pool of blood, the life slowly ebbing out of him, he hears voices, unearthly beings tormenting him, telling him that he will burn in hell, unless he finds out who killed him. Now before it’s too late, his ghost must solve the crime of his own murder and his only choice is to work with the white racist cop assigned to his case, Detective Bob Greene. 

But Detective Bob is no ordinary gumshoe. He has the gift of seeing into the lives of victims. Detective Bob can hear Clive’s voice and see Clive’s life through his eyes. At first, they hate each other, but as Clive bares his life to Detective Bob through dreams and visions, they realize that despite their differences they’ve lived the same pain. And when the truth is finally revealed in a wrenching ending, Clive realizes that he’ll never have peace until he can love and forgive his killer. A Dead Man Speaks is the first book in a series of paranormal crime detective mysteries where Clive’s ghost and Detective Bob over time form an interracial friendship and work together to solve crimes where the victims are unable to rest until they find their killers. It’s not your usual ghost story.
